It snowed ... and snowed ... and snowed. This week was our first snow of the season. The kids had a blast playing in it. We built snow forts and made snow balls. I think the kids just enjoyed attempting to walk through the large snow drifts that were piled up against the fence.

Fletch was in constant want of his Halloween Bee costume, which we certainly didn't mind as it made him happy and kept him warm. In fact, all three kids enjoyed their costumes for most of the winter. They just like to dress up and it's fun for Emily and I to watch them put on shows.

We would also play games of hide-and-seek. The kids hid all over the house, finding cabinets and drawers and any little nook to escape to. Daddy had a much limited selection of prime hiding spots but did his best.
And since we were invited to spend Christmas in Virginia Beach this year (those pictures coming soon). We let the kids open some presents early at home this year. One of the big gifts, thanks to a church friend, has a set of bunk beds

for the older two. Fletch and Violet were so thrilled. And even though they lost their ability to jump from one bed to another, they loved all the new adventures and new abilities that came with bunch beds. These beds became a secret hideout, a pirate ship, and even a slide (with a little yelp from an extra mattress).

The other gift they got early this year was a train table. Both of the older kids were very much into Thomas and Friends, so we thought that this would be perfect. And with bonus drawers for even more storage, how could we go wrong? This table served as a train table, a snack table, a dance floor, and anything else that required a large flat surface.
Oh and here's another bonus video. The kids dancing of course, but this time up on the kitchen bar. It seems that dancing was one of the biggest activities in the house during the whole span of unemployment. And beyond.
